Upper Eyelid Surgery
A fresher, brighter look by correcting droopy upper lids.
Approximate timings reflect the practice information supplied for Op. Dr. Soner Tezcan. Additional procedures, health and recovery may change the plan. Surgery, stay and activity plans are confirmed during consultation and follow-up.
What is it?
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and, if needed, fat from the upper eyelid.
Who is it for?
People with sagging lids, make-up that won't stay or a narrowed field of vision.
How is it done?
The incision is hidden in the natural lid crease; it is usually done under local anaesthesia.
Recovery
Approximate return to work/social life: 7–10 days. This does not mean full recovery or clearance for exercise or flying. Swelling and tissue settling may take longer and are reviewed during follow-up.
What is upper eyelid surgery?
Excess skin and fat of the upper eyelid are removed for a more open, rested look. If sagging narrows the field of vision, vision is eased as well.
Procedure and recovery
It is done under local anaesthesia and you go home the same day. The incision sits in the natural eyelid crease, so it is not visible with the eyes open. Dissolvable stitches are used. Return to social life takes about 7–10 days.
Aftercare and follow-up
- One or two checks are planned before departure according to the return date. A flight report is provided; fitness and timing for travel require medical assessment. Anti-embolism stockings form part of the care plan.
- Antibiotics, pain relief, stomach protection and antibiotic ointment are used only as prescribed. Dose, application site and duration are individual; do not start treatment independently.
- Absorbable sutures are used; routine stitch removal is not planned. Scar cream is started after wound closure at the time advised by the surgeon.
- Artificial tears are used as directed. Combined upper and lower eyelid surgery takes approximately 1–2 hours under general anaesthesia with a one-night stay.
- General activity plan: gentle walking in week one; light exercise after week two; regular sport after month one; weight lifting after month two. Every stage requires review and surgeon clearance; some procedures need longer restrictions.
